September Gallery - Lori Gunn

This month, we will be featuring the work of Lori Gunn in the cafe.
Get to know Lori- In my twenties, I was thrilled, when my father, a portrait artist, taught me how to capture the essence of people in pastel on velour paper. My love of nature and animals, however, led me to capture the spirit of beloved pets and the magnificence of wild animals instead.
Over the years, my path as a single mother working in the Federal Government has afforded me opportunities for travel to Europe, Asia, and across the U.S., photographing wildlife along the way. My art has won awards both in Pastel and Photography in South Carolina, while my past work of wildlife has been represented by Charleston galleries when the coast was my home.
Having relocated to Richmond, VA to be close to family, I am excited with the opportunity to focus on my art and explore a variety of mediums, as well as subject matter. My concern and love for the environment has led me to frequently use styrofoam as my canvas and utilizing thrift store frames. Pastels are still my first love as I seek to bring joy to others in rendering their beloved furry family members, and to share our sense of connection to the special Beings of Nature.
Her work will be on display throughout the month of September. Stop in Thursday, September 5th from 6-7pm for her gallery opening reception.
