I was born in 1972 with a love of fashion and style! I was also born with a rare facial anomaly that affected my right eye and right side of my nose ... leaving me legally blind in the right eye. During my 30 plus surgeries from birth to age 21 ... I became an expert on skin tones and doing my makeup to accentuate my positives and hide my scarring. Being in and out of the hospital and keeping up with schoolwork ...I was looking at VOGUE magazine and illustrating my own fashion line. Art class was always my favorite class! As many do, I followed what I thought was a “safer’ career path in life and studied psychology in college. I felt I had to do this to give purpose to all I had been through. After a masters degree in counseling, marriage and years in private practice, I decided to stay at home with my newborn daughter. When Fiona went to preschool, I tried my hand at being a freelance makeup artist and was blessed to meet Jyoti Sackett, an Internationally published fine art photographer. As a team, our work appeared in numerous magazines and Vogue Italia’s Photo Vogue. When Jyoti and I took a brief hiatus, I picked up my paintbrush and the rest is history. My hope is that when viewing my work, you feel drawn in and allow whatever feeling comes up for you to be welcome. Each of my evocative works tell a story but the story they tell is completely up to you. I also hope to show the beauty in asymmetry and imperfection. Sometimes I feel the need to express my emotion in painting an abstract painting with no form or face but that is rare ....Because I love faces!!! My art is influenced by fashion designers, makeup artists, fashion bloggers, beauty and lifestyle magazines, Hollywood Celebrities, interior designers, avant garde photography, and psychology constructs. I am thrilled to have had my work appear on the Bravo TV network shows, Southern Charm and The Real Housewives of Dallas. www.luluschwall.com
